Friday: A Deafening Silence

The group sat in stunned silence, the tablet’s screen dark. Roman finally broke the silence. "Did we just watch… the end of him?"

Jas shook their head. "I don’t know what we just saw, but… he was fighting something bigger than himself."

Ivy Mae leaned back, staring at the ceiling. "If this is what’s happening out there, what chance do we have?"

Miracle barked softly, nuzzling Jas’s leg. They looked down at the dog and then at each other. "Maybe we have more than we think," Jas said quietly.

Outside, the wind had settled, leaving an eerie calm. But they all knew it wouldn’t last.
