Tuesday: Too Good to Be True
By the second day of peace, Jas was starting to feel uneasy. The world outside was unnaturally quiet—no birds, no rustling leaves, just an eerie stillness.
“Is it just me, or does it feel like the calm before the storm?” Jas asked.
Roman shrugged. “Maybe it’s just… over?”
Ivy Mae frowned. “Nothing’s ever just over. We should stay ready.”
Still, they spent the day indulging in small luxuries—using the last of the sugar for tea, flipping through books left in the house, and playing a quiet game of cards. It almost felt normal.
