Tuesday: Piecing It Together
By the afternoon, Jas was sitting up, their strength slowly returning. Ivy Mae and Roman kept the journal close, flipping through its pages while keeping an eye on them.
“It’s like this book was meant to find us,” Ivy Mae said, holding up a page of medicinal herbs. “Everything in here could help us survive.”
“But what about the symbols and astronomical stuff?” Roman asked. “It feels like a warning.”
Jas frowned, rubbing their temples. “I don’t think the book is the problem. I think it’s this place.”
“What do you mean?” Ivy Mae asked.
Jas gestured toward the tree. “I felt… something there. Like the air was charged. And I swear I heard voices. Maybe I’m losing it, but maybe this place is more than we think.”
Roman looked uneasy. “We need to tread carefully. If this place is messing with us, we can’t let it get in our heads.”
