A Glimmer of Hope

 Tuesday:  A Glimmer of Hope

As Jas lay on the couch, pale and weak, Ivy Mae held the vial in her hands. Sleepy Z sat beside Jas, purring softly, while Miracle lay at his feet.

“We’re running out of time,” Ivy Mae said. “Their fever’s climbing again.”

Roman nodded. “Let’s try it. That poem… it has to mean something.”

Ivy Mae uncorked the vial, and the scent of lavender and honey filled the room. She dabbed a small amount on the sore near Jas’s neck where the infection seemed worst.

For a moment, nothing happened. Then, as if by magic, the redness around the sore began to fade. Jas stirred, their breathing deepening as the fever seemed to release its grip.

“It’s working,” Roman said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Ivy Mae exhaled, relief washing over her. “Let’s keep a close eye on him.”

Miracle barked softly, wagging his tail, while Sleepy Z stretched and yawned, curling up tighter beside Jas.
