Tuesday: Resting by the Waters
The group sank into the soft grass around the cenote, feeling their exhaustion begin to melt away in the warmth of the water and the peaceful surroundings. Jas was the first to test the water, hesitantly dipping a finger in. When he found it comfortable, they waded in slowly, the warm water wrapping around them like a soothing balm.
“It’s perfect,” Jas muttered, his tired face softening with relief.
Ivy Mae followed, then Roman, each of them stripping down to their essentials and immersing themselves in the welcoming waters. The warmth seemed to heal them, both physically and mentally, as if the water carried some ancient energy that rejuvenated their weary souls.
“This is the first time I’ve felt normal in days,” Ivy Mae said, floating lazily on her back, gazing at the brilliant blue sky above.
The air was still, with only the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze. The world seemed to pause around them, as if even nature recognized how much they needed this peace.
Miracle trotted down to the water’s edge, dipping her paws in and splashing playfully, while Sleepy Z curled up under a nearby tree, enjoying the warmth and calm.
They spent the day by the cenote, resting, eating the last of their rations, and simply allowing themselves to feel human again. They didn’t talk much, just enjoying the serene quiet, the cool breeze, and the sense of safety that the cenote provided. It was the first time in a long time they felt like they could breathe deeply and relax.
