Tuesday:
While searching for supplies, the group stumbles across a set of ancient petroglyphs etched into the rock face of a canyon. Roman stares at them for a long time, tracing the symbols with his fingers.
“These remind me of something,” he says softly. “I saw a book once, about Haida art. It had designs kind of like this.”
“Maybe they’re connected,” Ivy Mae says.
Roman shrugs. “Or maybe I just want them to be.”
Later that night, Roman sits by the fire, carving the symbols into a piece of driftwood. Jas watches him.
“You don’t have to know everything to belong,” Jas says quietly. “You already do.”
