Stick with me. I’ll teach you a thing or two

 Monday:

Over dinner, Maria explains their story. “We’ve been on the move for months now, ever since our home flooded. Found this spot a few weeks ago—figured we’d stay until the weather forced us out.”

David nods. “We’ve seen so much chaos, but we’re managing. The kids keep us going.”

Jas sits beside the blind boy, Sam, who seems to sense their presence. “You’re quiet,” Sam says, tilting his head. “What’s your name?”

Jas smiles. “I’m Jas. How did you know I was here?”

“I could feel the air shift when you sat down,” Sam replies. “And you smell like saltwater and cedar.”

Jas chuckles. “You’re amazing, Sam.”

Sam grins. “Stick with me. I’ll teach you a thing or two.”
