Fishing and Nets

Wednesday: A New Routine - Fishing and Nets

By the end of the second week, Ivy Mae had mastered the art of net weaving. Her hands worked quickly, crafting strong fishing nets from old ropes they found washed up on the beach. Roman taught her how to fish, using sharp rocks to make tools for spearing fish in the shallow waters.

The rhythm of their new routine was calming—wake up with the sunrise, gather supplies, fish, and prepare food. There was always something to do, but it never felt rushed.

Jas had taken to documenting everything in their journal. Ivy Mae’s sketchbook filled up quickly with drawings of the wildlife they encountered—whales breaching in the distance, pelicans diving into the surf, and schools of fish swimming through the shallow waters. At night, Ivy Mae would paint under the stars, capturing the colors of the sky as the auroras danced above them.

It was the first time in months that they felt a sense of normalcy, a sense of being present. The quiet of the beach was a balm for their weary souls.
