Shelter Takes Shape

Tuesday: Building and Bonding - The Shelter Takes Shape

As the days passed, the three of them worked together to build a solid shelter—a simple cabin, but one that would provide warmth and protection from the elements. They scavenged for materials—piles of driftwood, discarded tarps, and even repurposed fishing nets. Ivy Mae found a few old glass bottles that could be turned into lanterns, and Jas managed to create a rudimentary stove out of an old barrel.

The rhythm of their work felt good, grounding. It was as if their new life was taking shape with each nail, each plank of wood.

One night, after a long day’s work, Roman sat around the fire and began to tell more stories—some of them were about his family before everything changed, others about the world outside their little island. They were stories of hope, of love, and survival.

“I remember a time when things felt…normal,” Roman said, looking out toward the ocean. “People took everything for granted. But now, it’s us, the land, and the sea. That’s all we’ve got.”
