A Scary Moment

Monday: The Injury - A Scary Moment

The morning started out like any other. They had gathered around the river to wash their clothes, using the natural flow of water to rinse away the grime of the last few months. The air was warm, and everything felt so perfectly serene in the cave's hidden world.

But it only took a moment for everything to shift.

Jas was balancing on a slippery rock, trying to reach the edge of the river to fetch some water. Their foot slipped on the moss-covered stone, and they went tumbling down, landing awkwardly on their side. A sharp, agonizing pain shot through their arm. Jas gasped, clutching it, feeling the sickening snap of bone beneath their skin.

"Jas!" Roman shouted, rushing to their side, his face going white with panic.

Ivy Mae was already by their side, her medical kit in hand. "Hold on," she said, her voice shaking but steady. "We’ve got this. Just breathe."

But it was clear something was very wrong. Jas couldn’t move their arm, and the pain was unbearable. Roman gently lifted their arm, trying to assess the damage, but the angle was all wrong.

"It's broken," Roman said quietly. "We need to set it before it gets worse. Ivy, do we have the tools for this?"

Ivy Mae nodded, her hands trembling as she opened the kit. “We have to do it ourselves. There’s no one else here.”
