The healing process continued, and by the end of the week, Jas was in much better spirits. The pain had mostly faded, and they were able to move their fingers more freely, though the arm still needed time to heal properly.
Sitting in the warmth of the firelight, Ivy Mae couldn’t help but reflect on the strange, chaotic life they were leading now. There was nothing normal about it, but there was something about this shared existence that had forged an unbreakable bond between them.
"I’m glad you’re okay," Roman said, looking at Jas with a soft smile.
Ivy Mae looked up at the stars above and exhaled a long, calming breath. "We’re going to make it. We’ll figure it all out."
And for the first time in a long time, she truly believed it.
