Setting the Bone

Wednesday: The Healing Process - Setting the Bone

Roman moved slowly, carefully positioning Jas’s arm so he could set it properly. Ivy Mae sat on the ground beside them, taking long drags from her joint, trying to keep calm while watching the process unfold.

When Roman finally took hold of Jas’s arm, Ivy leaned in close, whispering to them. “Just breathe. You’ve got this. You’ve been through worse, right?”

Jas nodded weakly, their eyes focused on her. The herb she’d given them was beginning to work its magic, but they still winced as Roman began to realign the bones.

A loud snap filled the air as Roman moved the arm into position. Jas clenched their jaw, biting back a scream, but Ivy Mae was there to hold their hand, offering whatever comfort she could.

“I’ve got you,” she said, her voice soft. She had seen a lot of pain during their journey, but watching Jas go through this—this was different. They were a family now, and seeing them in pain was almost unbearable.
