🔥 The Decision to Leave
Theme: Hope & Determination
The fire crackled softly, its warmth barely cutting through the lingering chill. Shadows flickered across the cave walls like ghosts of the days they had endured.
Jas, Roman, and Ivy Mae sat close together, their silence heavy—not empty, but full of unspoken understanding. Outside, the relentless ashfall had finally begun to ease, revealing faint streaks of pale light breaking through the dense gray sky.
A sign. 🌫️➡️🌤️
Jas tightened their grip on the handheld radio, as if holding onto Alex through sheer will alone.
“We can’t stay here,” they said, voice steady but urgent. “The air’s clearing… and Alex is out there. If we wait too long, we might miss our chance.”
Roman shifted, testing his healing ankle. A flicker of pain crossed his face—but so did resolve.
“I’m ready,” he said. “We didn’t survive all this just to stop now.”
Ivy Mae looked around slowly, her eyes tracing every corner of the cave—the carved-out sleeping spots, the fire pit, the walls that had witnessed fear, laughter, and survival.
“It’s scary,” she whispered, clutching her sketchbook tightly to her chest. “But staying here… feels scarier.”
Then the radio crackled. 📻⚡
Alex’s voice—faint, fragile, but unmistakably real:
“You’ve got this, Jas… I’ll be waiting.”
Static swallowed the signal.
But it didn’t matter.
That was enough. 💫
